To what extent can and should a society change the environment? Photo from field research on Fridays for Future in Halle (c) Soliev.
The professorship in Environmental Sociology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg studies environmental change from social sciences perspectives – social drivers, processes, and outcomes of such change – and therewith is dedicated to addressing some of the most pressing academic, policy, and practical societal challenges of our time.
Our new Horizon Europe proposal - "DAISY: DigitAl, technologIcal and Social innovation mixes enabling transformation for biodiversity and equitY" - has been approved for funding by the European Commission. Details to follow.

On June 28, 2024 Ilkhom Soliev has been nominated and voted in to join the board of directors at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Regional Studies (ZIRS). He will serve as a director of ZIRS for the next five years.
